Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu has insisted that there has not been a bid for Alex Teixeira but would not stand in his way should a bid be accepted.
Lucescu said: “At the moment there are no official proposals, so it makes no sense to talk about it.”
This conflicts with reports that a £30 million deal is close to being agreed by both clubs.

Irrespective of a bid or not, Lucescu is keen to see his players reach the top. And given the length of service Teixeira has given to Shakhtar, it’s a fair statement.
Quoted as saying “I want to see my players perform in the best, top teams in Europe. This means that both my assistants and I have not been working in vain for so many years”.
It’s refreshing to see a coach say this. Not because it means Chelsea are more likely to sign the player, purely due to the fact that in today’s world where money talks, he genuinely seems to want his players to be the best they can be.
Yet Lucescu knows the value and quality in his players:

And unfortunately for Shakhtar, there are bigger clubs in bigger leagues that will inevitably swoop for their best performers.
Willian made a successful move from Shakhtar to Chelsea previously and the good will between the clubs is sure to go a long way to helping a deal completed before the end of the month.
