Having played at the under-20 World Cup for the USA and 27 games in the MLS this season (starting 25), it’s clear that New York Red Bulls have something of an emerging star on their books.
FourFourTwo magazine have recently featured 6ft 4in, 20 year old, centre back Matt Miazga as his side go into the second leg of their Eastern Conference semi-final against D.C. United with a 1-0 lead.
Some interesting take outs from that article include Red Bulls manager (Jesse Marsch) claiming he has been one of the best defenders in the league this season, comparisons with Jaap Stam and a statement from the author that indicates he marked David Villa out of the game in the New York derby.
Now, Chelsea have been linked with a bid for the player who could come in to strengthen our back four.
Popular Swansea blog ‘The Swansea Way’ tweeted that they believe Miazga was watched by their scouts back in June and further rumours of interest from Stoke and Leicester have only fanned the flames of a move to the Premier League.

So it would seem Chelsea would have a fight on their hands if Jose decides to make a move for the young cenre back.
Regardless, Miazga has said he’s happy to concentrate on developing his game with his current club – but we’ve heard all that before for players that have gone on to move.
The MLS season is ending and the January transfer window isn’t too far away. We’ll keep our ear to the ground on this one.
