The obligatory outrageous transfer rumour for Sunday is that AC Milan are reconsidering their stance on the sale of Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea.
Chelsea’s attempts to land Shevchenko looked to have failed when their £57m bid for the striker was rejected by Milan a few weeks back, with the Serie A giants making it clear he was not available at any price.
However, if reports are to be believed, the San Siro hierarchy could be about to perform a u-turn. It is said they are ready to sacrifice Shevchenko to finance a move for Parma’s Alberto Gillardino, who has made it abundantly clear he prefers a move to Milan.
Representitives of Milan have stated that Parma’s asking price is beyond them — but the sale of 28-year-old Shevchenko to Chelsea could raise as much as £60m with which to finance a deal for the Italy international.
Roman Abramovich is known to be a good friend of Shevchenko’s and has attempted to pursuade the Ukranian international to join the Stamford Bridge Revolution on several previous occasions.
Of course this is more than likely to be journalists using two completely separate transfer rumours/stories to concoct a headline for today’s tabloids — but you never know.
