Chelsea are reported to be close to signing John Obi Mikel, the 19-year-old midfielder at the centre of a long-running and much publicised transfer dispute with Manchester United.
The Times newspaper is reporting that the Nigerian international was at Stamford Bridge last night with a resolution imminent in the 13-month dispute, while the Guardian newspaper says that Mikel will sign within 24 hours.
If the reports are to be believed, a compensation package worth more than £10m will be paid to Lyn Oslo, Mikel’s current club, and United after he reneged on his contract with them.
