24 year old Mexican midfielder Ulises Davila has left Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.
He will join Mexican club Santos Laguna on a 3 year deal.
Davila signed for Chelsea back in 2011 and, as many young foreign players before him, struggled to break into the first team. He in fact didn’t make a single first team appearance.
During his time at Chelsea he was loaned out to Vitesse, Sabadell, Cordoba, Tenerife and Vitoria.
It’s safe to say he’s well travelled since coming to London.
He will return to his homeland and attempt to establish himself in the Mexican league.
Sadly this is another story of a young signing not making the grade, something that is becoming all too familiar at Chelsea.
Maybe he just didn’t have the talent, or maybe he just wasn’t given the right opportunities. I suppose we’ll never know.
