The Sun newspaper, source of many an outrageous transfer rumour, carries a report in today’s issue claiming that Chelsea is on the brink of making a £35m bid for Parma striker Alberto Gilardino.
Apparently The Blues hope to tie up the deal once the debt-riddled Italian club is sold today.
A Parma source said: “The club could well be sold with all its assets within 24 hours. Only then can Gilardino’s destination be decided.
“The fact there is a £35m bid in place for Gilardino has put an official price on to the club’s biggest asset.
“If the sale goes through as expected, Chelsea’s bid will be passed to the new owners for immediate consideration.”?
