Damien Duff is on the verge of joining Newcastle United after agreeing personal terms.
A club statement said: “Chelsea Football Club has agreed a fee with Newcastle United for the transfer of Damien Duff.”
The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who signed for Chelsea from Blackburn Rovers for £17m in 2003, is currently travelling to St. James’ Park to undergo a medical.
Duff was reportedly close to a move to Spurs but their bid of £7m was turned down.
