Ajax star Edson Alvarez has opened up on how his move to Chelsea collapsed late in the transfer window this summer.
In the interview he talked about his “disappointment” that the transfer fell through but remains convinced that a “big club will come for me”.

“We never expected Chelsea to put in another bid at the end of August. It was a difficult situation. Ajax couldn't do anything”. pic.twitter.com/TTYNwiOjTl
Chelsea’s bid was reportedly in the region of £43 million but was rejected by his parent club Ajax.
Ajax didn’t believe they could sign a replacement in time before the window closed. Essentially if Chelsea has made their move sooner, Alvarez would now be a Chelsea player.
Much has changed since then at Chelsea with a new manager and recruitment team at the helm. Therefore it remains to be seen whether Potter will go back for the Mexican.
