In an interview given to the Daily Mirror by David Luiz, the Brazilian has invited Diego Costa to swap Chelsea for Paris Saint Germain at the end of this season.
Luiz said that PSG would welcome the Spaniard with open arms and that he would be happy to have Diego Costa in his side.
After winning the Champions League title with Chelsea in 2012, Luiz joined PSG for a staggering £50 million.
Even at the time he was sold, he wasn’t in great favour with Jose so it was a surprise that we got so much for him.
A £50 million price tag is a tough one to justify, yet for all his detractors, Luiz has won back to back league titles with the French side. Albeit in a very one-sided Ligue 1 of late.
PSG are also gradually becoming a force to be reckoned with in Europe (as we know all too well). We’ll meet them again in the Champions League Round of 16 this season too.
This is what Luiz said regarding Diego Costa in his interview:
“If Diego decides he has had enough of England and wants a new challenge, of course he would be welcome here. Off the field he is a good friend, one of the nicest guys you can meet, somebody I would go to dinner with.” said Luiz.
While the wishes of Luiz might not be enough to lure Costa to Parc des Princes, the staggering wages that could be offered by the French side might tempt Costa to consider his future in the summer.
