Romelu Lukaku scored last night as Inter beat Viktoria Plzen 4-0 in Milan.
Lukaku’s goal came in the 87th minute where Inter were already leading by 3 goals from Mkhitaryan and Dzeko (2).
Lukaku had been out for 2 months through injury but his return to the team brought instant rewards as he found his goal touch to complete Inter’s rout and help dump Barcelona out of the Champions League.
However rumours are growing that Chelsea are ready to agree an additional year loan at Inter with a transfer fee agreed for the summer of 2024.
The fees involved would be nowhere near the astronomical price that Chelsea paid to bring the player back only one year ago.
Nothing is set in stone however and the potential curveball is the Boehly and Potter combination. If Graham Potter, who is a fan of playing a target man (see Maupay and Welbeck), decides that Lukaku has a place next season then there’s every chance he will get an opportunity to fulfil his potential in the Premier League and at Chelsea.
For now however, the outlook doesn’t look great for Lukaku at Chelsea but lets see how this one plays out.
