Chelsea Eye Former Manchester United Striker

This has a huge ‘rumour mill’ sticker plastered all over it.

(But secretly I’d be quite happy if it happened).

In a move that would possibly agonise the Manchester United faithful, Chelsea are reportedly in pursuit of Dutch flyer Robin Van Persie from his current club, Turkish side Fenerbahce.

At 32, Van Persie is apparently frustrated with life in Turkey and is possibly considering a switch back to England in the remaining days of the January window.

Since being shipped out by Louis Van Gaal at the start of the season, Van Persie hasn’t been at his striking best for the Fenerbache.

The failure of the club to qualify for the Champions League will also impact Van Persie who would no doubt be expecting to play in the Europe’s elite competition once again this season.

Any move may or may not depend on Alexandre Pato.

It appears as though he has agreed terms to join for the rest of the season on loan.

Pato hasn’t hidden his desire to play in Europe, in England and for Chelsea.

It goes without saying that we need a striker. Maybe two.

I wouldn’t say no to getting both Pato and Van Persie.

If you made me pick, I’d go with Van Persie every time.

Diego Costa is slowly creeping back to something resembling his best and both Remy and Falcao are taking turns in getting injured.

Of course we’ve struggled for goals this season.

If we could genuinely lure Van Persie back to the Premier League, I think it’s worth a shot.
