Chelsea’s rushed pre-season continues later this evening with a game against Dutch side Feyenoord in Rotterdam, kick-off 7pm local time (6pm BST).
Coming just three days after losing 1-0 to the Major League Soccer All-Stars in Chicago, and with another friendly game against Celtic at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night, expect Jose Mourinho to chop and change the players throughout. It was obvious from Saturday’s loss in the US that the majority of the squad is far from match sharp.
Joe Cole is the only member of the squad definitely out after damaging knee ligaments against the MLS All-Stars. If reports are to be believed, Cole’s injury is not as serious as first thought and he could be back in action by the end of the month. Let’s hope so.
