Chelsea U21 4-3 Liverpool U21
7th May 2015
First Half
The man of the moment Dominic Solanke scored a hat-trick last night, as Chelsea’s U21’s beat Liverpool U21’s in a seven goal thriller – 4-3 after an end to end affair.
Solanke and Kiwomya’s efforts have dented Liverpool’s chance of winning the league, and left high hopes of Chelsea winning the treble in another fantastic season for the young Blues.
The game changed after 3 goals in 17 minutes, with Kiwomya scoring an audacious effort off the cross bar, and Solanke netting twice – before Chelsea were pinned back by Liverpool.
Second Half
Despite some strong defending, Liverpool scored early in the second half through Cameron Branagan taking the game to 2-2, with Solanke then completing his hat trick to help Chelsea hold on for a well earned win.
A late goal from Harry Wilson wasn’t enough to break the composure of the strong and effective Chelsea back line.
After the game Solanke spoke about his impressive goal tally;
‘It’s an amazing achievement for me personally. I had a good year last season and now I’ve doubled my goal tally this season so I’m really pleased.’
With the Chelsea first team having wrapped up the Premier League title, it will be interesting to see how Jose uses the players at his disposal, with players like Solanke, Kiwomya and Christensen all looking worthy of a run out.
Could Solanke score against Liverpool U21’s and the Liverpool first team within 72 hours? With the Chelsea team reportedly having 4 days rest this week, I hope he gets the chance.
