Mohamed Salah returned to haunt Fiorentina as Roma climbed to the top of the Serie A league table.
Salah gave Roma the lead with a stunning curled effort from the edge of the 18 yard box, refusing to celebrate his goal in a show of respect to the Fiorentina fans that treated him so well during his loan move last season.
Gervinho then raced clear to double Roma’s lead before Babacar pulled one back for Firenze. It was too little too late as Roma secured the 3 points to leapfrog Fiorentina into 1st place.
Serie A is tight at the top so far with Roma leading the way on 20 points followed by Napoli, Fiorentina, Inter Milan and Lazio all on 18 points.
Defending champions Juventus currently languish in 12th spot on just 12 points.
