Timo Werner is flying back at Red Bull Leipzig this season. So far he has contributed to 13 goals (goals and assists) in just 15 games. A remarkable stat given his form for Chelsea in the time he was at the club.
Now some Chelsea fans are questioning whether the Blues should have let Werner go in the first place.
It’s a tough call, he was clearly lacking confidence and struggling to make his mark in the Premier League. He would also be fighting for game time and probably getting very few minutes at Chelsea.
At Leipzig, Werner is playing at a club and league he knows well. He is also starting every game. It really does show how a different environment can change a player’s perspective.
For my money, I’d be surprised if we see him in a Chelsea shirt at Stamford Bridge again. But then I’ve been wrong before…
