Hasselbaink on FA charge over bonus payment allegations

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been charged by the FA with improper conduct / bringing the game into disrepute following claims in his autobiography that Chelsea made illegal bonus payments to players after the 2004 Champions League win over Arsenal.

Chelsea denied the allegations and a subsequent Premier League inquiry found no evidence to substantiate the Dutchman’s story. Hasselbaink, now with Charlton having left Stamford Bridge for Middlesbrough in 2004, has until August 14th to respond to the charges.
