Frank Lampard is learning that a Premiership winner’s medal and a player-of-the-year award do not make him immune from criticism.
Sven-Goran Eriksson has never been one to doubt his players in public, nor will he be, but he has felt the need to speak privately to Lampard about his strangely subdued performances in the embryonic stages of the season.
