In a European qualifying programme packed with goals from men with Stamford Bridge connections, Mutu’s Group One brace for Romania past Petr Cech of the Czech Republic means England will be guaranteed one of the two automatic second-place qualifying tickets to Germany, provided they win their Group Six ties against Northern Ireland on Wednesday and Austria on Oct 8.
