Who’s On Chelsea’s Retained And Released List For 2015

Retained and Released by Chelsea 2015

Chelsea have submitted their retained and released list to the Premier League, which is required to be submitted by all clubs no later than the 3rd Saturday in May.

We have known for a while that Didier Drogba will be leaving the club and has been announced as the only player that will leave the club on a free transfer.

Of course we fully expect other transfers to go through in due course (such as Gael Kakuta’s reported move to Europa League winners Sevilla) however any transfer for a player on the retained list will require both clubs to come to a fee agreement before a move can go ahead.

Player Status

The ‘retained and released’ list is broken into three categories which are pretty straightforward and detailed below.

Contract Players: Players that are contracted to the club beyond this summer on professional terms

Scholars: Aged between 16 – 19 but hasn’t signed a Professional football contract yet. They are on what is known as a scholarship (or apprentices). The Premier League is responsible for ensuring these players all receive a formal education programme in addition to their full-time footballing education.

Free transfers: Players’ whose contract has expired and they haven’t agreed an extension with the club

Agreed Transfers

While the full list of retained players includes those that are contracted to the club, there are some transfers that have already been agreed and will ‘officially’ be completed on 30th June.

Agreed Loans Out
– Stipe Perica remains at Udinese until 30 June 2016
– Christian Atsu will go on loan to Bournemouth until 30 June 2016

Agreed Transfers In
– Nathan for £3,960,000 from Atletico Paranaense will sign on 1st July 2015
