Drogba Denies He’s Retired
French newspaper and website L’Equipe announced today that Chelsea legend Didier Drogba had retired after a short stint at Montreal Impact.

This story was also picked up and run with by Montreal’s local newspaper the Montreal Gazette.

Since then, every news outlet around the world is reporting that Didier Drogba has retired and will subsequently return to Chelsea as part of the coaching staff.

Well there’s a twist.

Drogba has just tweeted that he hasn’t yet retired and he is still discussing his future with Montreal Impact.

The tweet is below and reads: “Lovely to receive these messages but I have not yet announced my retirement & am still in discussion with @impactmontreal about my future.”

While it’s widely expected he will return to Chelsea’s coaching staff at some point, he clearly wants to be the man to break the news of his retirement (whenever that may be) and not a news rumour.

So there we have it, for the time being Drogba plays on!
