Atletico Madrid were dramatically dumped out of the Champions League and into the Europa League after a 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen at Stadio Wanda Metropolitano last night.
Not only that, it was one of Chelsea’s very own loan stars who contributed to their downfall.
Moussa Diaby gave Leverkusen the lead before Yannick Carrasco leveled for Atleti on 22 minutes.
It was then that Callum Hudson-Odoi restored Leverkusen’s lead and helped Leverkusen grab the headlines.
Rodrigo De Paul converted a second half equaliser while Madrid missed an injury time penalty to fall into this year’s Europa League.
Hudson-Odoi’s performances have been grabbing attention this season and now working under Premier League great Xabi Alonso his game is becoming more attacking. Graham Potter has been urged to take note as Callum is due to return to Stamford Bridge next season.

“He tells me – ‘You’re playing really well, working well, getting the ball & creating chances. But you need that killer instinct to get in the box & score goals.’ – That’s one of the things I need to add to my game.”
