Chelsea’s England Under 20 captain Lewis Baker has become the next promising Chelsea player to spend time at Vitesse Arnhem with a season long loan deal announced by both clubs.

Bertrand Traore, Wallace and Josh McEachran all made an impact last season at Vitesse helping them finish 5th in the Eredivisie and qualify for Europe in the process.
The trend looks set to continue with Baker’s loan possibly the first of a new wave of Chelsea players making the now familiar trip across to the Dutch side.
Born and bred in Luton, picked up by Chelsea at the tender age of 9, was included in Jose’s 2014/15 first team squad but was never once used. The second half of last season saw Baker loaned to both Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons to gain first team experience.
While Sheffield Wednesday didn’t quite work out and opportunities were few and far between, he was re-posted to Milton Keynes (after being recalled by Chelsea) where his 12 appearances and 3 goals helped push MK Dons to promotion to the Championship.
His next stage of development takes him to the Netherlands where he will experience football in a top European League plus an opportunity to play in the Europa League.
Fun Lewis Baker fact: His father, Audley, was a six time powerlifting champion.
In fact, Baker has already arrived in Holland and begun training with his new club.
We wish him all the best for the season ahead and will keep a close eye on his performances.
