As Chelsea had to remain content with a 3-3 draw against Everton, there is further worry Hiddink as star striker Diego Costa suffered an injury during the game.

The news coming out of the Chelsea camp isn’t the least bit encouraging either.

Although he scored the opening goal for Chelsea against Everton it certainly wasn’t a happy ending as far as Costa was concerned.

In the post match presser, Hiddink confirmed that Diego Costa has been taken to hospital after suffering a shin injury.

It’s understood that hospital element will involve a full scan on the injury.

Costa was substituted in the 80th minute after failing to recover from a clash with an Everton player.

Remy came on in place of Costa but the Frenchman failed to produce any kind of magic in the last 10 minutes of the game.

According to Hiddink, he is still unaware of Costa’s injury significance and for how long he’ll be out of action.

However, if Costa the injury is a serious one, there are two things that will need to happen.

Firstly, Loic Remy will likely be given his chance and he needs to step up and perform – regardless of the amount of time he’s spent on the bench this season.

He may also see it as an opportunity to put himself in the shop window for a January transfer.

Chelsea will also need to step up their search for an additional striker. It’s becoming increasingly imperative that we sign someone that can be relied upon as a backup to Costa.

In the meantime, we hope Costa makes a full and swift recovery.
